Dogs can be silent heroes, and we have a similar story of a sheepdog named Louie who not only surprised his family but impressed his neighbors after a rescue mission.
Louie is a 12 years old dog who was adopted from a local shelter by Marolyn Diver and her family. He prefers to stay at home these days rather than playing and roaming around the forest.
Louie went missing for a day. Marolyn got worried because she knew Louie is old and he might not find his way back home.
But they underestimated the dog who finally came back at the end of the day all by himself.This brought relief to the family, but he also had something with him. He was also exhausted and had a cardboard hanging from his neck with a piece of string. The family told:
[Louie] looked so exhausted and had basically just collapsed. We were concerned someone might have hurt him.
One of the members noticed the cardboard and their doubt became stronger. But fortunately, the cardboard had something very surprising written on it. Louie spent the entire day being a hero for someone.
The note was from the neighbor, Rob. He wrote that his dog, Maddy, was trapped under a branch pile in the woods and Louie came in to rescue bravely.
Louis is the hero of the day. He led me to Maddy, in distress, stuck under a branch pile. Cheers, Rob.
As the Divers got more curious after reading this, they called the neighbors to know further details. When Louie was missing, his dog Maddy was also trapped under the branch pile in the forest.
Louie somehow found Maddy and quickly ran to the farmer Rob. He barked frantically in front of the farmer and made him follow to Maddy, who needed help. Both of them started to help the pup out. Rob removed the branches while Louie dug the ground for Maddy to get out. Maddy was rescued without any harm.
Rob said the second she was free both dogs ran to a nearby pond and jumped into it exhausted and drinking water. He then gave Louie a huge handful of dog biscuits as a thank you. He knew Louie might get in trouble for being late home, so he thought he would write a small note to explain his absence.
Although the rescue mission was exciting for Louie, it exhausted him a lot which also brought him in bad shape. But Louie was also waiting for Maddy to visit him.
When Rob came with Maddy in his bicycle basket the next day, Louie jumped out with excitement and looked normal all of a sudden upon seeing her. Louie undoubtedly is a hero and a true friend to Maddy.
